Tides and swimming
Nha Trang has mostly diurnal tides: usually one high and one low tide a day, about 1 to 2 m apart.
Vietnam's national forecasting centre advises watching out for rip currents on beaches while the tide is going out, especially in big waves. Waves and the light for each beach are on the Beaches page.
How it is calculated
- Harmonic analysis of the official tide table of Vietnam's Institute of Coastal and Offshore Engineering (ICOE) for Q1 2026, Cau Da station; checked on March: average error 8.6 cm, largest 19 cm. Compared with the Open-Meteo model (August-October 2026): high and low tide times agree within 0-2 hours.
- Heights are above chart datum (the lowest water level over many years) and do not include surge from strong wind or storms.
- A seasonal correction uses the Open-Meteo sea level of the last 7 days when available.
